WAYNE THOMAS

Wayne “Deadwood” Thomas, 79, of Texarkana, Texas, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Thomas was born May 5, 1929, in Gilmer, Texas. He was retired from professional rodeo, a horse trainer and a Marine Corps Reservist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Francean Thomas.

Survivors include two cousins, Lodi and Shelly Stapleton of Houston; and eight special friends, Eddie Smith, Ned Chever, Mike and Sharon Stevens, Cathy Chever, Nim Garcia, Jim Simpson and Ray Barranger of Texarkana.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Josh Siratt officiating. Burial will be under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
