GEORGE ROWE JR.

LINDEN, Texas—George R. Rowe Jr., 73, of Douglassville, Texas, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, in an Atlanta, Texas, hospital.

The Rev. Rowe was born May 1, 1935, in Douglassville. He was master Mason of the state of Texas and a member of Gum Springs CME Church, Douglassville.

Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Rowe Steger, Linda Rowe Thomas, Angela Rowe Cox and Demitra Rowe Anderson; one son, George Rowe III; one brother, the Rev. Victor Rowe Sr.; one sister, Jean Rowe Gaston; one brother-in-law, Autris Dickerson; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Atlanta, with Ronald Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Gum Springs Cemetery under direction of Linden Funeral Home.

The body may be viewed noon to 4 p.m. Friday with visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
