PERRY EVANS JR.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas—Perry Evans Jr., 88, of Omaha, Texas, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in Longview, Texas.

Mr. Evans was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Omaha. He was a member of Mount Mitchell Church of Christ, Omaha. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betha Lee Evans; one son, Melvin Joe Evans; and a number of other relatives.

Survivors include three sons, William Charles Evans and Dwelyn Evans of Omaha and Michael Evans of Dallas; two daughters, Geraldine Shepherd and Joyce Cotton of Dallas; five sisters, Annie Hill and Dorothy Lee of Dallas, Alice Johnson of Cason, Texas, Mary Bolden of Houston and Edvernell Davenport of Mount Pleasant; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Mitchell Church of Christ with Joe Rivers officiating. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery, Daingerfield, Texas, under direction of Tumey Mortuary.

The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
