COOLIDGE BIRGE

DE QUEEN, Ark.—Coolidge Birge, 84, of De Queen died Thursday, May 22, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Birge was born March 5, 1924, in Gillham, Ark. He was a retired educator and auto mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Verba Lee Smith Birge of De Queen; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dexter and Lynda Birge of Waxahachie, Texas, and Carroll and Joy Birge of Little Rock; one daughter, Jerri Lynn Birge of De Queen; one brother, Byron Birge of Clinton, Mo.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Chandler Funeral Home with Richard Sexton, George Frachiseur and Joe Carlton officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.
