HATTIE DODSON

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Hattie Elizabeth Dodson, 92, of Avinger, Texas, died Monday, May 26, 2008, in a Longview, Texas hospital.

Mrs. Dodson was born Feb. 27, 1916, in McCurtain County, Okla. She worked in the church nursery, member of Women’s Missionary Union and First Baptist Church of Avinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Parker Dodson; two sons, Donald Ray Dodson and Freddie Dow Dodson; two daughters, Rachel Dodson and Nancy Jo Dodson; and one grandson, Frank Alton Dodson.

Survivors include three sons, Noble L. Dodson of New Boston, Texas, Eddie Wayne of Avinger, and Alton Gene Dodson of Hughes Springs; three daughters, Connie Pearl Carpenter, Linda Kay Davis and Ruby Lawan Parsons of Daingerfield, Texas; two sisters, Edna Newsom of Daingerfield and Nellie Thompson of Modesto, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home with Dale Carter and Carroll Pendley officiating. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
