HOPE, Ark.—Roy Taylor, 88, of Hope died Monday, May 26, 2008, in McKinney, Texas. Mr. Taylor was born June 17, 1919, in Eastland, Texas. He was an instructor for Hope Fire Department, director of Emergency Management, deacon and member of First Baptist Church, a World War II Merchant Marine veteran and a Korean conflict Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey McAdams Taylor. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Tonna Taylor and Winston Duke of Richardson, Texas, and Carol Taylor and Chuck Brown of Springfield, Mo.; one brother, Buster Taylor of Stroud, Okla.; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Chonna Brown and Matt Patterson of Springfield, and Dee Ann Duke and Todd Bell of Waxahachie, Texas; two great-grandsons; and a number of other relatives. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Cumbie officiating. Burial will be under direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
