DAINGERFIELD, Texas—William L. Evans, 61, of California died Saturday, May 24, 2008, in a Houston hospital.

Mr. Evans was born Nov. 28, 1946, in Omaha, Texas. He was a lawyer, a union steward with the U.S. Postal Service, a member of NAACP of California and Texas State Bar Association, a member of Church of Christ and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by one son.

Survivors include one son, Jarrod Evans of San Antonio; two brothers, Joe L. Evans of Naples, Texas, and Gale Evans of Houston; one sister, Larneatha Bowdre of Prairie View, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Mount Mitchel Church of Christ, Daingerfield, with the Rev. Darryl Bowdre officiating. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery under direction of Harmon Funeral Home.
