DAINGERFIELD, Texas—William L. Evans, 61, of California died Saturday, May 24, 2008, in a Houston hospital.

Mr. Evans was born Nov. 28, 1946, in Omaha, Texas. He was a lawyer, a union steward with the U.S. Postal Service, a member of NAACP of California and Texas State Bar Association, a member of Church of Christ and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by one son.

Survivors include one son, Jarrod Evans of San Antonio; two brothers, Joe L. Evans of Naples, Texas, and Gale Evans of Houston; one sister, Larneatha Bowdre of Prairie View, Texas; and two grandchildren...
