William A. “Hickernut” Smith, 65, of Texarkana, Ark., died Sunday, June 1, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Smith was born Feb. 26, 1943, in Hope, Ark. He was a Baptist and an Army veteran.

Survivors include four sons, William, Dewayne, Kenneth and Mark Smith; five sisters and brother-in-law, Gracie Prestige of Hope, Ann Satterfield of Houston, Nelda Jean Cooper of Elk Heart, Ind., Wanda Jackson,Peggy and Denzil Coburn of Texarkana; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hope, with John B. Bryant officiating. Burial will be under direction of East Funeral Home, downtown.
