SHREVEPORT, La.—Edward Wakin, 83, of La Vergne, Tenn., died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in a Murfreesboro, Ark., hospital.

Mr. Wakin was born Feb. 17, 1925, in Texarkana, Texas. He was a Catholic and a World War II Marine veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Gracie Wakin of La Vergne; two sons, Mike Wakin of Danville, Calif., and Dan Wakin of Hickory, N.C.; two brothers, Tony Wakin and Jack Wakin of Texarkana; one grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Services were Saturday at Forest West Cemetery, Shreveport, with Carson LaCaze officiating under direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
