Gene Donald Johnson Sr., 61, of Texarkana, Ark., died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Johnson was born March 4, 1947, in Jackson, Miss. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Victory Temple and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Johnson of Texarkana; one daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Tommy Chriestenson of Texarkana; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gene and Peggy Johnson of Genoa, Ark., and Darrell Sprout of Wileyville, W.Va.; two brothers, Paul Johnson and Charles Johnson of Tyler, Texas; two sisters, Helen Wilson of Fouke, Ark., and Edith Barnhill of Farmersville, La.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas, with the Rev. Bill Chaney officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Shiloh Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Relatives will be at the Chriestenson home, 5215 Line Ferry Road, Texarkana, Ark.
