HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—John “Buddy” Mason, 80, of Daingerfield, Texas, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Mason was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Morris County, Texas. He was retired from Lone Star Steel and a deacon and church chairman.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Mason of Daingerfield; seven daughters, Peggie M. Robinson of Houston, Deborah Johnson, Sharon Steward and Iris Linwood of Longview, Texas, Erma Jones and Diana Williams of Daingerfield and Stephanie McGill of Mount Vernon, Texas; two sons, Clarence Frazier and John Mason Jr. of Daingerfield; three sisters, Mattie Edney of Phoenix, Ariz., Hattie Carter of Daingerfield and Mary Britt of Dallas; 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Daingerfield, with the Rev. Courtney Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
