Hoyt Cleveland Higgins, 87, of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Higgins was born April 12, 1921, in Hazard, Ky. He was a retired mail carrier for the Postal Service, a member of National Association of Letter Carriers and Highway Church of Christ and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Higgins of Texarkana; one son, John Higgins of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren, Johnny Higgins and Jeremy Higgins.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens with John Hall officiating. Burial will be under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
