Benjamin Franklin “Ben” Lyles, 87, of Texarkana, Ark., died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Lyles was born April 23, 1921, in Farmersville, La. He was a laborer, a Mason, a member of St. James Baptist Church and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Lyles of Texarkana; three daughters, Benita Fisher of Frederick, Md., and Letitia Montgomery and Shirley Thomas of Texarkana; two brothers, the Rev. Vernon Lyles of Los Angeles and Felix Ora Lyles Jr. of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. James Vernon Lyles officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Cemetery under direction of Lyles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
