HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Homer Bishop, 79, of Avinger, Texas, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in a Longview, Texas, hospital.

Mr. Bishop was born July 25, 1928, in Kingston, Texas. He was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church, Avinger, and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Bishop; three daughters and one son-in-law, Cathy Webb of Waco, Texas, and Susan and Danny Wallace and Terri Medrano of Hughes Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Rita Bishop of Hughes Springs; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Russell and Dr. John Collier officiating. Burial will be in Turkey Creek Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
