Lorene Askew, 84, of Texarkana, Ark., died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in Texarkana.

Mrs. Askew was born March 29, 1924, in Old Boston, Texas. She was retired from the City of Texarkana, Ark., and a member of House of Prayer Church. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Melba Pollock.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Marty Martin and Linda and Leo Baird of Texarkana; one sister, Beatrice Curd of Texarkana; two grandchildren and spouses, Jerry and Shelia Martin of Texarkana and Shannon and Jeff Sells of Genoa, Ark.; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at House of Prayer Church with the Revs. Donnie Williams, Shad McDonald and Todd Reed officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
