ATLANTA, Texas—R.B. Porterfield, 59, of Atlanta died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in Atlanta.

Mr. Porterfield was born Jan. 30, 1949, in Atlanta. He was a retired carpenter, a volunteer firefighter and a member of Carpenters Brotherhood Union 379, National Rifle Association and First Baptist Church, Queen City, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Porterfield of Atlanta; two sons, Keith Porterfield of Atlanta and William Porterfield of Little Rock; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Porterfield-Thompson and Brad Thompson of Atlanta; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Billie Ruth and Don Westmoreland of Bloomburg, Texas, and Larry Spivey of Texarkana; one grandson, Lukas; one granddaughter, Hannah; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Salem Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Lovely officiating. Burial will be under direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Visitation will be at the family home after the service.
