GOVAN JOHNS

Govan Johns, 81, of Texarkana, Texas, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Johns was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Naples, Texas. He was a Mason and a member of Mount Orange Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma L. Johns.

Survivors include two sons, Randolph Johns of Austin and Ricky Joe Davis of Texarkana; three daughters, Evelyn A. Williams and Jackie E. Johns of Texarkana, and Cynthia A. Amarvi of New Boston, Texas; two sisters, Amanda Hill of Texarkana and Dinah Hill of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Orange Baptist Church with the Revs. D.A. Hill and Leslie Brembry officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under direction of Haynes Mortuary.

Visitation will be from to 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
