BOBBY DOWD

Robert Sidney “Bobby” Dowd, 80, of Texarkana, Texas, died Monday, July 7, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Dowd was born Jan. 26, 1928. He was a well-known businessman and a member of Beech Street First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one wife, Marjorie Putman Dowd; and one son, Kirk.

Survivors include his wife, Sue; two sons, Doug Dowd and Randy Dowd of Texarkana; two daughters, Mona Dowd and Susan Slimer of Texarkana; one grandson, David Jr.; one granddaughter, Marjorie Beth Slimer; one brother, Travis Dowd of Texarkana; two sisters, Gerry Beck of Oklahoma City and Evelyn Marshall of Visalia, Calif.; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Beech Street First Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
