Herbert M. Forte, 76, of DeKalb, Texas, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Forte was born Oct. 20, 1931, in DeKalb. He was retired from Red River Army Depot and a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Effie Forte of DeKalb; one son, Tyrone Forte of St. Louis; one daughter, Twila Forte Williams of Dallas; one brother, Harvey Forte Jr. of DeKalb; four grandchildren, Angel Williams and Austin Williams of Dallas and Zachary Forte and Joshua Forte of St. Louis; and a number of other relatives.

Closed casket services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount PIsgah Baptist Church with the Revs. Vernon L. Cheatham Sr. and Marvin Warren officiating. Burial will be in Garland Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
