HOPE, Ark.—Doris Laverne Barber, 83, of Bodcaw, Ark., died Saturday, July 12, 2008, in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Barber was born April 5, 1925, in Fairfield, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Steven Dearing of Rosston, Ark.; one sister, Nell Stubbfield of Crockett, Texas; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Brown officiating. Burial will be under direction of Brazzel/Oakrest Funeral Home.
