John W. Jordan, 88, of Texarkana, Texas, died Monday, July 14, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Jordan was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Texarkana, Ark. He was retired from Red River Army Depot, a deacon, usher and member of First Baptist Church, Moores Lane, and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Plunkett.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Virginia Jordan; one daughter and two sons-in-law, Debbie and Bobby White and Paul Plunkett; five grandchildren, Ginger Ford, Todd White, Christa Ogden, Brad White and Erin Murrah; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday with at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas. Private burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
