Covington D. Blackwell, 62, of Sterling Heights, Mich., died Saturday, July 12, 2008.

Mr. Blackwell was born Dec. 21, 1945, in Texarkana, Ark. He was a federal logistics worker, a member of First Corinthian Full Gospel Church of Christ and Phi Beta Sigma and a Vietnam War veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Laverne Elliott Blackwell of Sterling Heights; one son, Covington D. Blackwell Jr. of Sterling Heights; two daughters, Rhonda Blackwell Watson of Little Rock and Lakeisha N. Blackwell; his mother, Ruth Smith Blackwell of Texarkana; and one sister, Shirley A. Blackwe...
