CLARKSVILLE, Texas—Donald E. Whitten, 79, of Avery, Texas, died Friday, July 18, 2008, in a Texarkana hospital.

Mr. Whitten was born May 23, 1929, in Acworth community. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1111, Scottish Rite and a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Serna Whitten; five sons, Donnie Whitten of Dallas, Dean Whitten of Kan., Danny Whitten of Arlington, Texas, Dennis Whitten of Waco, Texas, and Steve McCaul of Hagerman, N.M.; one daughter, Charlene McKinney of Las Cruces, N.M.; three sisters, Bonnie Gross of Clarksville...
