DONALD WHITTEN

CLARKSVILLE, Texas—Donald E. Whitten, 79, of Avery, Texas, died Friday, July 18, 2008, in a Texarkana hospital.

Mr. Whitten was born May 23, 1929, in Acworth community. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1111, Scottish Rite and a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Serna Whitten; five sons, Donnie Whitten of Dallas, Dean Whitten of Kan., Danny Whitten of Arlington, Texas, Dennis Whitten of Waco, Texas, and Steve McCaul of Hagerman, N.M.; one daughter, Charlene McKinney of Las Cruces, N.M.; three sisters, Bonnie Gross of Clarksville, Mary Mooneyham of Paris, Texas, and Geraldine Brackeen of Avery; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Clarksville Funeral Home with the Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will be in Tuggle Springs Cemetery with Masonic Gravesite Rites.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
