THELMA SHORT

Thelma J. Short, 82, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, July 18, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Short was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Grannis, Ark. She was retired from Red River Army Depot, former Sunday school teacher, past president of United Methodist Women, previous board member of Child Protective Services and member of Williams Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Short.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Terrell McDowell; one son and daughter-in-law, Maurice P. and Erma Short of Texarkana; one sister, Inez Howell of Big Springs, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Lucille Brown of Pottsboro, Texas, and Eugene and Cleta Brown of Marshall, Texas; three granddaughters; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at East Funeral Home, Moores Lane. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens.
