William Harvey Nix, 84, of Wake Village, Texas, died Monday, July 21, 2008, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Nix was born Dec. 13, 1923, in Hugo, Okla. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Nix of Wake Village; one son, William Harvey Nix Jr. of Baton Rouge, La.; one daughter, Martha Long of Baton Rouge; two stepsons, Gayland Lawshe of Hurst, Texas, and Bryan Lawshe of Burleson, Texas; one stepdaughter, Lulynn Foster of Wake Village; two grandchildren, Ricky Long of Baton Rouge, and Ginger Keaton of Dallas; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Long of Baton Rouge and Isabelle Keaton of Dallas; seven step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under direction of East Funeral Home, downtown.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge or Heritage Baptist Church.
