DeKALB, Texas—Lonnie Preston Smith, 56, of Malta, Texas, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Smith was born July 17, 1952, in DeKalb. He was a truck driver for NE-TEX Construction.

Survivors include his wife, Ronda Gail Smith; three daughters, Paula Judson of McLoud, Okla., Brandy Hill of Greenville, Texas, and Jessica Cowley Spencer of New Boston, Texas; three sons, Stacy Smith of Clarksville, Texas, Joe Hill of Iraq and Casey Cowley of New Boston; four sisters, Sue Barrett of Simms, Texas, Mary Wilkins of Waco, Texas, Gail Feagin of Hubbard, Texas, and Becky Sessums of Paris, Texas; one brother, Bobby Smith of DeKalb; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 8 a.m. Wednesday at Woodmen Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Hooker officiating. Burial will be under direction of Bates-Rolf Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
