ASHDOWN, Ark.—Olivia James, 88, of Lenexa, Mo., died Thursday, July 31, 2008, in Lenexa.

Mrs. James was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Little River County, Ark. She was a former member of Red Oak Grove Baptist Church and a member of Shalom Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie James Jr.; two sons; and one daughter.

Survivors include one son, Auther James of Texarkana; two daughters, Dessie Jones and Mattie Mangum of Kansas City; three godchildren, Mae Bell Paxton of Ashdown, Lavar Paxton of Texarkana and Catrina Mitchell of Lancaster, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Talton officiating. Burial will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery under direction of Hamburg Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
