James “Jake” Richard Sewell, 80, of Nash, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, in Texarkana, Texas.

Mr. Sewell was born Sept. 28, 1927, in Memphis, Tenn. He was a retired welder from Red River Army Depot and a member of Red River Flying Club, Local 237 Pipefitters Union and Highland Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Kelli Sewell of Alexandria, Ala., and Russell and Patti of Texarkana; one sister, Sybil Sewell of Nash; four grandchildren, Lauren Sewell and Lacee Sewell of Alexandria and Amy Dodson and Wesley Sewell of Texarkana; one great-grandchild, Braylon Dodson of Texarkana; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens with Chris Hooten officiating. Burial will be under direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
