MYRTIS WILLIAMS

Myrtis P. Williams, 70, of Texarkana, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Avinger, Texas. She was president of Out Reach Ministries, deaconess at Macedonia Baptist Church and a member of Esther Circle. She was preceded in death by one son, Marcus T. Williams.

Survivors include her husband, Edgar Williams Sr. of Texarkana; seven sons, Edgar Williams Jr., Joseph P. Williams, David C. Williams, Darrearl L. Williams and George C. Brown of Texarkana, Fredrick R. Williams of Milwaukee and Gus Hubbard of New Boston, Texas; four daughters, Jacqueline D. Rivers and Showne L. Williams of Texarkana, Redona L. Williams of Milwaukee and LaWanda Simpson of Dallas; one brother, Samuel Pearson Sr. of Dallas; two sisters, Dorothy Jones of Avinger and Lessie B. Edwards of Chicago; 30 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Jones officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under direction of Haynes Mortuary.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
