Maxine Laverne Haywood, 70, of Corpus Christi, Texas, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in Corpus Christi.

Ms. Haywood was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Ashdown, Ark. She was a teacher and a member of Outstanding Young Women of America, Archives of Prominent Americans, Classroom Teacher Association and Texas State Teachers Association.
