HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Edd Russell “Shorty” Phillips, 77, of Daingerfield, Texas, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Phillips was born Aug. 13, 1931, in Morris County, Texas. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Dodd Phillips; two daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley and Michael Bearden of Greenville, Texas, and “Binky” Holsopple of Daingerfield; one brother, Thomas Gerald Phillips of Cason, Texas; four grandchildren, Eric Holsopple, Kristin Holsopple, Misty Bearden and Harlan Bearden; and a number of nieces and nephews.
