Vernice L. Dockins, 83, of DeKalb, Texas, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Dockins was born May 28, 1925, in Red River County, Ark. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Essie Dockins of DeKalb; five sons, Amos Dockins of DeKalb, Freeman Dockins, Vernice Dockins Jr. and Earnest Dockins of Oklahoma City and Kenneth Dockins of Edmond, Okla.; five daughters, Dorothy Scroggins, Carol Mays, Diane King and Sharyle Jones of Oklahoma City and Tereca Hill of Edmond; one brother, David Dockins of Munday, Texas; two siste...
