Velma Smith, 94, of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Grant County, Ark. She was a homemaker and a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adren Smith.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Thomas Williams of Hope, Ark., and Audrey and Larry Fountain of Nash, Texas; two brothers, Earl Mooney of Tulsa, Okla., and Bobby Ray Mooney of Camp Verde , Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
