PRESCOTT, Ark.—Ralph D. “Son” Phillips, 85, of Blevins, Ark., died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in a Hope, Ark., hospital.

Mr. Phillips was born July 1, 1923, in Nevada County, Ark. He was founder of DeVaughn Oil and Gas Co. in Fort Morgan, Colo., and Black Creek Farms in Blevins, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Prescott Lodge 80 of Free and Accepted Masons, Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association, Arkansas Thoroughbred Breeders Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mavis Phillips, in 2005.
