CLARKSVILLE, Texas—J.R. Lewis, 73, of Clarksville died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, in a Paris, Texas, hospital.

Mr. Lewis was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Hopewell community, Texas. He was a former mayor of Clarksville, a justice of the peace in Red River County, owner of Lewis Grocery and BBQ and Lewis TV, a member of Aikin Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a National Guard veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Cagle Lewis.
