HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—Christene Beard, 82, of Longview, Texas, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, in a Longview, Texas, hospital.

Mrs. Beard was born May 15, 1926, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. She was a member of Shady Grove Christian Church and was preceded in death by two husbands, Fred Hayes and Rufus Beard; three children, Janice Hayes, Shirley Bell and Betty Jurl Lafayette; and one great-grandchild, Courtney Lafayette.
