John Edgar Brown, 90, of Redwater, Texas, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mr. Brown was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Lott, Texas. He was an Army veteran and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school superintendent.

Survivors include his wife, Berna Dean Brown of Redwater; one son, Edgar Brown of Tomball, Texas; three daughters, Sherry Walker of Pearland, Texas, Karen Brown of Lancaster, Texas, and Mary Joe Bass of Odessa, Texas; two sisters, Ona Mae Gentry and Tennie Bee Rand of Odessa; and two grandchildren.
