DAINGERFIELD, Texas—Vela Mae Sheppard, 94, of Naples, Texas, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, in a Texarkana hospital.

Mrs. Sheppard was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Naples. She was a member of Heroines of Jericho Court 232 and Morning Star Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Holley and Cleopatra Newton of Naples; one son-in-law, Rudolph Holley of Naples; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
