HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas—George Everett Newton, 78, of Hughes Springs died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2009.

Mr. Newton was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Holly Creek, McCurtain County. He was a welder and a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Marie Sellers.

Survivors include three sons, Mike Newton of Simms, Texas, Steve Newton of New Orleans and William Newton of Arkansas; three daughters, Shelia Golden, Brianna and Erin Newton of Hughes Springs; one brother, Gene Newton of Mena, Ark.; two sisters, Ruby Ledbetter and Bertha Mae Newsom of Idabel, O...
