DE QUEEN, Ark.—John William “J.W.” Churchwell, 79, of Eagletown, Okla., died Thursday, July 2, 2009, in a Texarkana hospital.

Mr. Churchwell was born Aug. 14, 1929, in Gillham, Ark. He was a retired farmer and truck driver and a member of Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Churchwell in 2007; one daughter, Vera Lavon Churchwell; and one grandson, Joe Brizendine.
