DeKALB, Texas—William F. “Sonny” Newkirk, 84, of DeKalb died Friday, July 31, 2009, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Newkirk was born April 2, 1925, in Cooper, Texas. He was retired owner of the Western Auto Store, DeKalb, a member of Pinkham Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Newkirk of DeKalb; three sons, Billy Newkirk of DeKalb, Michael Newkirk of Menard, Texas, and Wade Newkirk of Texarkana; one daughter, Janell Browning of Texarkana; three brothers, LeRoy Newkirk of DeKalb, Tom Newkirk of Tyler, Texas, and Jim New...
