We were put out with Texarkana, Ark., city officials who, somewhat disingenuously, worked a franchise fee increase on energy consumption into this year’s budget. We were put out because they slipped it into the final budget after only toying with the idea in public budget workshops.

That being said, we know this money is going for some worthwhile expenses. That’s why we cannot be for the effort to repeal the fee increase on natural gas and electricity to soften the financial blow of Arkansas-side residents now having to pay sales tax on groceries.
