Judicial nominees should be judged on merit, not on political views

Once upon a time, Supreme Court justices were chosen on the basis of whether the nominees had the required legal skills, honesty and judicial temperament.

No, that’s not the opening of a legal fairy tale. It’s a remark by Justice Antonin Scalia during a speech Monday at Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, R.I.
