Ballot MeasureProposal aims to cut down on illegal aliens receiving public assistance
It took a few tries, but a group called Secure Arkansas finally got approval from the state attorney general for a ballot initiative to require verification—sort of—of immigration status of people seeking public benefits.
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel had previously rejected the measure twice, deeming the submitted ballot title too long and confusing for voters. The group kept trying and now can begin collecting signatures to get the measure on the November ballot. They need 61,974 registered voters to sign on to the initiative. A spokesman for the group ...
