Someone please explain why the United States can ignore another nation’s sovereignty out of anger and revenge but not out of compassion and generosity.

Nearly 2 million people are homeless in Myanmar—it used to be Burma—following a devastating cyclone that already has killed tens of thousands. Yet, humanitarian aid, public and private, from the U.S. and other countries sits in transport planes and ships undelivered because Myanmar’s government does not want an influx of foreigners or foreign assistance. Never mind that the junta cannot handle this disaster alone.
