Rule ChangeArkansas politicos hope to keep former House member from returning
Former Arkansas state Rep. Dwayne Dobbins, D-North Little Rock, is running to regain his old seat in the Legislature.
And some in the House and the Democratic Party are trying to make sure he doesn’t get the chance to serve even if he wins. Dobbins resigned his seat in 2005 as part of a plea bargain to settle a charge that he fondled a 17-year-old girl at his home. He was originally charged with felony sexual assault, but bargained down to misdemeanor harassment. He got a year’s probation, had to resign his House set, pay a $1,000 fine and undergo counseling.
