Texarkana, Ark., city officials are in the process of consolidating the city’s current trash collection contract with four separate hauling companies into a single agreement with a single service provider.

The city is preparing to take bids from the current contractors, as well as any other firms that want the residential and commercial garbage routes.

Right now, having four companies provide services can be confusing for residents and delay response to consumer complaints. A single provider contract should mean more prompt attention to any problems.
