A discouraging, yet not entirely surprising, trend got the spotlight Monday at the U.S. House of Representatives Veterans Affairs Committee field panel held hearings in Bentonville, Ark.

Panel members head from several witnesses who reported that more and more employers are reluctant to hire employees who serve in the National Guard or military reserves.

Federal law requires those employing National Guard soldiers and reservists who are deployed on active duty to rehire them in the same job when they return.
