In a newsroom in September, it takes something really big to divert the conversation from the big game—Arkansas-Texas, the city rivalry—or for the sports phobic, the latest goofiness in presidential politics.

On Friday, though, an act of God and the machinations of corporate America filled minds and mouths. It likely was the same in other workplaces.

The former we couldn’t do anything about, except live through it. The latter we feel powerless to handle as well, but maybe government officials can have a good look at it.
