Child support agencies across the country have seized about 1.4 million of the stimulus checks, collecting around $831 million for custodial parents.

$831 million might sounds like a lot, but it’s barely a dent in the total amount of child support owed by deadbeat dads and a smaller number of deadbeat moms. The total is somewhere north of $100 billion.

It’s a start and no doubt the money will come in handy for those struggling to raise their kids. But it shows just how pervasive the problem of delinquent child support is in this country.
